Reports have been received that Danish flag vessel MAERSK EINDHOVEN (141,716gt, built 2010) lost several containers during heavy weather in the Pacific on 16 February 2021.
The exact number of containers that has been lost is yet to be determined. However, the vessel has reversed course and is now heading back towards the Asian coast, indicating that the incident may be serious.
This latest loss of containers is one of several recent similar incidents, the most serious (in terms of cargo losses) being the ONE APUS and MAERSK ESSEN incidents. In both cases we act for cargo insurers.
MAERSK EINDHOVEN is on a voyage from Xiamen to Los Angeles. Prior to Xiamen, the vessel called at Yantian, Hong Kong and Vung Tau. Earlier, the vessel had called at ports in Oman, Morocco, Netherlands, Germany and the UK. The voyage number is 051E.
