Reports have been received that Sierra Leone flag vessel OCEAN PORPOISE (7,441gt built 1996) issued a distress call early yesterday morning after experiencing water ingress off Keelung.
According to reports, the vessel, en route from China, developed a starboard list and threatened to capsize. The master gave the order to abandon the vessel.
Two of the crew members jumped overboard and a rescue operation was launched. About an hour later, the two crew members were airlifted and transferred to hospital.
It is not yet clear whether the ship and cargo can be saved.
