Date: 20th April 2016 Type: Grounded Voyage: From Eregli
*****Follow-up Casualty Report*****
NOVA CURA, carrying Turkish cargo, is still aground. Her crew members have been taken off the vessel.
The casualty has suffered water ingress and an oil spill has been reported.
Professional Salvors have now been contracted on LOF terms to rescue the ship and cargo. If the salvage operation is successful, it is likely that cargo insurers will be asked to provide salvage guarantees in London. Dolphin Maritime can assist with this.
It is also likely that General Average will be declared.
If you are insurers of cargo on board and require our assistance please let us know. Thank you.
*****First Report*****
Reports have been received that Dutch flag vessel NOVA CURA (3,999gt, built 1999) ran aground earlier today north of Lesbos.
The general cargo vessel sailed from Eregli yesterday and is understood to be destined for Izmir.
The vessel remains aground at this time and no tugs are on the scene as yet.
It is possible that claims for Salvage and/or General Average will be made against cargo insurers as a result of this incident.
