Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel VIKING MERLIN (18,485gt, built 2013) suffered a fire in her engine room on 13th July whilst at Philadelphia.
The fire resulted in the electrical system and a boiler failing and her being unable to supply power to temperature controlled containers.
VIKING MERLIN will be detained for at least two weeks at Philadelphia to undergo repairs. All perishable goods have been discharged for on-carriage.
VIKING MERLIN operates between ports in Central America, Caribbean and the US.
