Reports have been received that Swiss flag vessel LUGANO (12578gt built 2002) grounded in the Martin Garcia Channel yesterday.
The bulk carrier is on voyage to Brazil with 18,579mt of wheat. Tugboats are being sent to assist the Vessel.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
