Reports have been received that South Korean flag vessel OCEAN GALAXY (6,553gt built 1995) ran aground off Bataan Province yesterday.
The general cargo vessel is on a voyage from China. She sailed from Weihai ON 23 July 2012 and is destined for Manila.
A tug sent b Malayan Towage and Salvage Co is on the scene but is currently being prevented from commencing operations because of bad weather.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
