Reports have been received that Italian flag vessel SOUTH RIVER (14118gt built 1998) has run aground today off the port of Kronshtadt. The vessel is carrying a cargo of scrap metal from St Petersburg.
The shipowners will decide shortly whether to request assistance.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
