Reports have been received that Maltese flag vessel FLASH (91,373gt built 2009) ran aground on 25th June off the coast of Tunisia.
We understand that the vessel has suffered damage to her engine room and ballast tanks. A salvage operation is planned.
FLASH is carrying a cargo of 126,000mt of coal to Taranto from Newport News from where she sailed on 10th June.
It is likely that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
