Reports have been received that Singapore flag vessel AKARI (13235gt built 1999) has run aground near Dau in Haiphong Harbour.
The containership was reportedly trying to avoid the wreck of another ship when she ran aground. The vessel has developed a six degree list to port following the incident.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
