Reports have been received that the Cypriot flag vessel PACIFIC EXPRESS (17465 gt, 1981 built ) was attacked by pirates. The crew locked themselves in the citadel and were subsequently rescued by an Italian warship. However the pirates set fire to the vessel and the vessel became a “dead ship”. She subsequently was taken under tow for Mombasa.
We represent cargo on board the vessel. General Average has been declared, and it remains to be seen whether the vessel can continue on the voyage.
