Reports have been received that Antigua flag vessel BBC SPAIN (6,204gt built 2001) has suffered a machinery problem 1400 miles west of Azores.
Salvage tug Tsavliris Hellas is being sent to the assist. It is expected that the vessel will be towed to Ponta Delgada for repair.
BBC SPAIN is a voyage to the US. Previously she had called at Marina di Carrara and Diliskelesi.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
