Reports have been received that South Korean flag vessel NEW BRIGHT (8,504gt, built 2008) suffered a fire on board yesterday whilst sailing downstream on the Yangtze River.
The vessel, a combined chemical and oil tanker, is on a voyage from Changzhou to Incheon. The vessel’s crew of 22 were rescued.
NEW BRIGHT has taken on a list and is believed to have been grounded to avoid capsizing. Salvage vessels are in attendance.
