Date: 21 November 2023 Type: Machinery Failure Voyage: Australia to China
Reports have been received that Hong Kong SAR flag vessel CESI QINGDAO (113,397gt, built 2017) is still stranded at the Curtis Island terminal, near Gladstone, Australia, following propulsion failure some days ago.
The LNG carrier is currently on the berth but is not able to move. This is preventing other cargoes being loaded from the terminal, as there is space for only one vessel.
CESI QINGDAO is on charter to Sinopec. The cargo on board was due to be carried to Wenzhou China.
The incident has already prevented the loading of several other LNG carriers that would have called at the terminal in the last few days.
It remains to be seen when the vessel will be able to get underway.
