Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel SEA QINGDAO (200,679gt, built 2012) is not under command in the northern Indian Ocean.
The very large bulk carrier is drifting in a westerly direction and has sent a distress signal which was picked up by MRCC in Colombo.
SEA QINGDAO is destined for Tubarao in Brazil, having sailed from Teluk, Malaysia on 18 August 2023.
