Reports have been received that Panama flag vessel XING SHUN NO.1 (6,186gt, built 2014) sank yesterday off the Taiwanese coast.
Five of the seventeen crew members have been rescued. The remaining twelve are still missing. Search and rescue operations are underway.
The vessel was on a voyage from Hon Gai to Taichung when it encountered heavy seas. Reportedly, three crew members had already been inured by a wave sweeping over the deck the previous day.
