Reports have been received that Belize flag vessel PRINCESS MIRAL (5,552gt, built 1990) ran aground off New Mangalore, India, yesterday.
The general cargo vessel suffered sea water ingress and sent a distress signal. It is reported that the crew members have been rescued.
PRINCESS MIRAL is on a voyage from South Korea and China to Lebanon. The vessel has on board approximately 8,000 tonnes of steel coils.
As well as potential cargo damage, it is possible that salvage and general average claims will be made as a result of this incident.
