Reports have been received that Togo flag vessel HEIWA MARU (4,463gt, built 1992) rang aground yesterday off Unten Port, Japan.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Japanese Coast Guard, but bad weather is understood to be at least partly to blame.
The crew is reported to be safe, and no oil pollution has been observed so far.
