Reports have been received that Madeira flagged vessel IVAN (8,191gt built 1996) experienced water ingress today whilst berthed at Algiers.
The vessel has took on a starboard list as a result. Emergency services attended in an effort to rescue crew members. Six of the crew members were reported to have minor injuries. There are also reports of one crew member falling into the water.
IVAN is understood to be resting on the bottom with some compartments flooded. The vessel is a RO/RO which had sailed from Valletta on 25 September 2021.
