Reports have been received that Panamanian flag vessel KEMET STAR (11,848gt, built 1999) ran aground off Bozcaada Island yesterday.
Coastal safety tugs, fast rescue boats, and technical teams have attended the incident scene which has been declared a restricted zone for all types of marine traffic. A salvage plan is being developed.
KEMET STAR is on a voyage from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to Derince, Turkey. There is a cargo of 15,000mt of silica on board.
