Reports have been received that Liberian vessel MARQUESSA (58,446gt, built 2006) is on fire off the coast of Lanyu Island.
The Taiwanese Rescue Command Centre received a distress call earlier today. The fire is in the vessel’s engine room and cannot be extinguished by the crew. It is understood that the crew of 24 will be rescued by helicopter.
MARQUESSA, a tanker, sailed from Laizhou on 4 December 2020.
