Reports have been received that Indonesian flag vessel MENTARI CRYSTAL (2,725gt, built 1992) capsized on 15 November 2020, with her starboard side left resting on the bottom alongside the pier at Teluk Lamong Terminal, Surabaya.
The container ship’s crew is reported to be safe. Efforts to recover the cargo and vessel are underway, although damage will be extensive.
MENTARI CRYSTAL trades between ports in Indonesia. It is possible that the vessel will also have on board transhipment cargoes to and from other parts of the world.
