Reports have been received that Singapore flag vessel APL ENGLAND (65,792gt, built 2001) lost at least 40 containers overboard in heavy weather earlier today. A further 74 containers are understood to be damaged.
The incident happened whilst the vessel was approximately 40 miles south-east of Sydney. APL ENGLAND is diverting to Brisbane as a result of the incident.
APL ENGLAND is on a liner service and had previously called at Ningbo, Shanghai, Manila, Singapore, Port Klang, Visakhapatnam and Chennai.
