Reports have been received that container ship MITRA SEJAHTERA IX sank on 23rd November 2019 south west of Makassar in position 05 56S 118 34E, Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The vessel was en route from Surabaya to Kendari, southeast Sulawesi, with 147 containers on board. The casualty had reported water ingress and a developing list and sank shortly thereafter.
15 crew members were rescued by nearby ships. Several of the containers are understood to be floating in the vicinity.
