Reports have been received that Togo flag vessel KAPTAN HASAN UZUN (5,966gt, built 1983) grounded off Sile, Turkey, today.
The general cargo vessel, en route from Theodosia, Ukraine to Ambarli, Turkey, in a laden condition, with 16 crew on board, lost power and ran aground in position lat 41 13.06N, long 29 23.0E.
A coastal safety tug, along with a technical team, attended the incident scene in order to provide assistance. The salvage operation has yet to commence because of prevailing strong winds and heavy seas in the area.
