Reports have been received that Singaporean flag vessel MOL PRESTIGE (71,902gt, built 2006), suffered an engine room fire on 31st January 2018 and lost propulsion as a result.
Two crew members have been medically evacuated by helicopter. A tug has been despatched towards the vessel and is expected to arrive tomorrow.
MOL PRESTIGE trades between ports in North America and the Far East. She had sailed from Vancouver on 29th January bound for Tokyo.
She is likely to be carrying transhipment cargoes for other areas of the world as well.
