Reports have been received that Cypriot flag vessel OCEAN CROWN (30,057gt, built 2005), ran aground off Klaipeda yesterday.
The bulk carrier was apparently ordered to remain at anchor, because of poor weather, but reportedly suffered an engine problem.
The vessel grounded approximately 200 metres from the shore in waves up to 5 metres. The hull has been breached and sea water ingress reported. The crew remains on board for the time being.
