Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel CCNI ARAUCO (95,138gt, built 2015) suffered a fire on board today whilst berthed in Hamburg.
Local residents have been advised to keep their windows closed after the fire broke out in a container towards the stern of the vessel.
Around 150 fire fighters, and two fire boats, attended the scene. Two crew members were reportedly slightly injured in their attempts to fight the fire.
We understand that the vessel is to be unloaded as a result of this incident and in order to assist fire fighting efforts.
No hazardous cargoes are reported to be on board.
After Hamburg the vessel was scheduled to sale for Antwerp. She has arrived on a voyage from ports in India, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Morocco. She may also be carrying transhipment cargoes to and from other countries.
