Reports have been received that Maltese flag vessel AGRIA (33,044gt, built 2010) suffered an explosion on board on 19th March 2015.
The bulk carrier had left Rio Grande earlier in the day with a cargo of wheat in bulk destined for Mongla, Bangladesh. The explosion was reportedly in hold no 5.
It is possible that general average will arise as a result of this incident, as well as cargo damage. AGRIA has returned to Rio Grande.
