Reports have been received that Antigua flag vessel KIANI SATU (16,660gt, built 1997) ran aground yesterday near Mossel Bay, South Africa.
We understand that the crew will be taken off the vessel. Tugs are proceeding to the scene. The vessel is hard aground after being blown on to the shore in heavy weather.
The vessel is on a voyage from Vietnam from where she sailed on 10th July 2013. The cargo of rice is destined for discharge in West Africa, possibly Ghana.
