Reports have been received that Maltese flag vessel KATHERINE (17,225gt, built 1997) was in collision with Panamanian flag vessel BARU SATU (9,978gr built 2001) off Andros Island today.
As a result of the accident, KATHERINE suffered severe sea water ingress. 17 of her crew members abandoned the vessel. Coast guard vessels are attending the scene.
KATHERINE is reported sailing from Novorossiysk on 30th June. She is carrying iron ore to Italy. BARU SATU sailed from Paranagua on 10th June with a cargo of sugar for Bulgaria.
