Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel SAMOS LEGEND (36615gt built 1996) began to experience engine problems yesterday off West Africa.
A Smit tug SMIT AMANDLA has been sent to assist the casualty. SAMOS LEGEND had sailed from Santos on 9th September 2012.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
