Reports have been received that Cambodian flag vessel STAR (6,667gt built 1974) has suffered water ingress into her engine room on a voyage from Qingdao to Korsakov.
Some of the crew have been taken off the vessel. Salvors are now in attendance to assist the crew in trying to stop the water ingress. We understand that the plan is to tow the vessel so Vladivostok.
It is likely that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
