Reports have been received that Dutch flag vessel ZEALAND BEATRIX (9,514gt built 2010) has suffered a rudder problem off Azores.
We understand that tug TSAVLIRS HELLAS is proceeding and that the casualty will be towed to Ponta Delgada as a port of refuge.
ZEALAND BEATRIX is on a voyage from Klaipeda from where she sailed on 19th April 2012. Her original destination was Norfolk, USA.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
