Reports have been received that Japanese flag vessel KONYO (43,462gt built 1999) has suffered an engine problem and is drifting near position lat 40 33.1N long 139 25.9E.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
