Reports have been received that Maltese flag vessel B OCEANIA (38,337gt built 1990) was in collision with another bulk carrier off Singapore last week.
The other vessel broke in two and sank as a result of the collision. It is reported that B OCEANIA lost power before the accident.
The vessel that sank could not be immediately identified but is now reported to have been Panamanian vessel XIN TAI HAI (94,338gt built 2011).
The crew have been rescued by a containership although there are reports of injuries. The crew were taken to Singapore.
B OCEANIA is understood to have been on a voyage from China to India. XIN TAI HAI was en route from Brazil having sailed from Sepetiba on 30th June.
