Reports have been received that Panama flag vessel DUMUN (43,500gt built 2010) ran aground yesterday whilst leaving Gladstone Harbour.
The bulk carrier, bound for Singapore, was refloated and towed to an emergency anchorage. The vessel will now be subject to inspection by the local maritime authorities.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
