Reports have been received that French flag vessel CHANTACO (11793gt built 2007) ran aground outside the port of Oxelosund last night.
The tanker reportedly suffered a problem with her anchor and was blown aground in heavy seas. She had sailed from Riga on 7th November. She is now being assisted by tugs.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
