Reports have been received that Panama flag vessel THEODORE JR (11364gt built 1983) has suffered a fire on board off Spain today.
The bulk carrier, with a cargo of 17000 mt of rock phosphate loaded in Togo for Varna, is now being attended by fire fighting craft. The vessel’s crew has been rescued.
It is possible that a salvage claim will be made against the owners/insurers of the cargo on board this vessel. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
