Reports have been received that Togo flag vessel MARIO M (4075gt built 1998) has suffered sea water ingress in the Bay of Biscay.
Portable pumps were delivered to the vessel by helicopter and a salvage tug also proceeded to the scene. The vessel is now deviating to Brest to carry out repairs.
It is possible that salvage claims will be brought against cargo interests as a result of this incident. It is also possible that general average will be declared.
