Reports have been received that UAE flag vessel AL SALMY 6 (16,021gt, built 1983) sank earlier today in heavy seas off Assaluyeh, Iran.
The operations manager of Salem Al Makrani Cargo Co, the vessel’s owners, advised that rescuers had saved sixteen crew members, and another eleven had made it onto a life raft.
One person was saved by a nearby tanker, and another two crew members were still in the water.
Responders from Iran are trying to rescue the remaining crew.
