Reports have been received that Barbados flag vessel BC VANESSA (19,805gt, built 2010) was in collision with Panama flag vessel BENITAMOU (104,729gt, built 2008) off Galibolu, Turkey, earlier today.
Emergency teams were sent to the scene and both vessels shifted to an anchorage where they have been detained by the Turkish authorities.
No injuries or pollution have been reported but BENITAMOU, on a voyage from Yuzhnyy, Ukraine, is understood to have suffered sea water ingress.
BC VANESSA, on a voyage from Lesport, Bulgaria to Tunis, Tunisia also suffered damage to various areas of the superstructure, although ingress has not been reported.
