Reports have been received that Chinese flag vessel ZHONG AN YANG (38,684gt, built 2000) contacted a reef south of Nanri Island on 03 October 2021.
As a result of the accident the vessel’s holds were breached, causing water ingress.
A distress signal was sent, and a search and rescue vessel sent to the scene. It was thought that the vessel may have to run aground to prevent capsize but salvors have been able to stabilise the vessel.
