Reports have been received that Liberian flag vessel KIVELI (22,115gt, built 2008) came in contact with Maltese flag vessel AFINA I (8,887gt, built 2010) off Kythira Island, Greece, yesterday morning.
Both vessels suffered water ingress, but no injuries have been reported.
AFINA I is on a voyage from Russia to Spain carrying a cargo of iron ore. KIVELI is on a voyage from Morocco to Bulgaria with a cargo of fertilizer.
The two vessels are locked together by the impact of the collision and several tugs are currently in attendance in order to provide assistance.
