Reports have been received that Maltese flag vessel X-PRESS GODAVARI (8,971gt, built 2008) suffered a fire on board yesterday whilst at anchored off Sandheads, West Bengal.
The Indian Coast Guard has sent three vessels to the location and the situation is also being assessed by an aircraft sent to fly over the vessel.
X-PRESS GODAVARI is on a voyage from Malaysia to India and Sri Lanka. She sailed from Port Klang on 23 September 2020. She is likely to be carrying transhipment cargoes to and from other countries as well.
