Reports have been received that Marshall Islands flag vessel SITEAM ANJA (28,027gt, built 1997) ran aground on 17TH May 2016 off Isla de Lobos.
The tanker is carrying a cargo of approximately 26,000mt vegetable oil from San Lorenzo to Rio Grande. Reportedly the vessel suffered a black out before running aground.
Water ingress has been reported into the vessel’s tanks. The Navy has set up a crisis team and several tugs are in attendance.
