Reports have been received that Antigua & Barbuda flag vessel THORCO CLOUD (7,813gt, built 2004) was involved in a collision in the Singapore Straits at midday today with Cayman Island flag vessel STOLT COMMITMENT (23,206gt, built 2000).
The Singapore Coast Guard responded to the incident. THORCO CLOUD is understood to have sunk. Seafarers had to be rescued from the water by the Coast Guard and STOLT COMMITMENT.
THORCO CLOUD was on a voyage from Indonesia. She had sailed from Batu Ampar earlier in the day.
STOLT COMMITMENT is on a voyage from Rotterdam to Kaohsiung. She is reported to have suffered only minor damage.
