Reports have been received that Italian flag vessel ALTINIA (8,707gt, built 1992) is currently on fire and adrift off Djibouti.
The vessel has been abandoned by her crew who were rescued by a naval vessel CHAO HU and transferred to cargo vessel JOLLY DIAMANTE.
ALTINIA’s last recorded port of all was Jebel Ali from where she sailed on 30th April. She is understood to have been destined for Jeddah. She generally trades between the Arabian Gulf, Red Sea and ports in Italy.
