Reports have been received that Chinese flag vessel JIA LI HAI (36,986gt, built 1991) was in collision with South Korean flag vessel XIU MEI
TIANJIN off Zhoushan yesterday.
As a result, JIA LI HAI, carrying a cargo of coal, suffered water ingress. She was towed to shallow water and is reported to be aground.
The extent of damage to containership XIU MEI TIANJIN is unclear. She is on a voyage from Zhoushan to Shanghai but is likely to be carrying cargoes for various destinations.
