Date: 17th June 2010 Type: Engine Damage and General Average Voyage: Oman to Pakistan
Reports have been received that Malta flag vessel MAERSK NAHA (25756gt built 2005) suffered engine damage recently on a voyage from Salalah to Port Qasim.
As a consequence, the vessel proceeded under reduced power to Port Qasim but was not permitted to enter the port. The vessel is currently being towed to Dubai for repair. We understand that the vessel’s charterers will arrange for transhipment of the cargoes.
The owners of the vessel have declared General Average and appointed Stichling Hahn Hilbrich as Average Adjusters. Before the cargoes can be delivered, the cargo insurers will have to provide average guarantees and the cargo owners will need to provide average bonds.
