Reports have been received that Greek flag vessel CAPTAIN MICHALIS (2330gt built 1973) was yesterday in collision with Maltese flag vessel SANTANA (27962gt built 2001).
As a result of this collision, which took place in the Mediterranean off Greece, CAPTAIN MICHALIS sank. Eight of her crew were rescued but one crew member is reported to have died.
The other vessel, SANTANA, is not badly damaged. It is understood that she is proceeding towards Syros where inspections and an investigation will be undertaken.
